Read every chat message,
in your language.
Textileaf translates your Twitch chat and layers it right over your stream. What you say becomes translated captions too, so viewers from anywhere can follow along.
A sample animation. The background stands in for your stream; the real overlay is transparent.
Take the language barrier off your stream.
Every message, in your language
Messages in Spanish, Japanese, Korean and more appear on your stream already translated. Stack them as cards, or let them fly across the screen as bullet chat.
Your voice, as translated captions
Textileaf listens to your mic and puts translated captions on screen. Keep talking in your own language while international viewers follow along.
Four looks to match your stream
Pop, Pixel, Neon and Sumi. Each theme has its own entrance and its own way of revealing the translation. Text size is adjustable.
Translation runs on your own computer
Chrome’s built-in translator does the work on your PC. No fees and no limit on how much chat gets translated.
Set up in three steps.
Enter your channel
On the setup page, type your Twitch channel name, then pick a theme and your languages.
Open the preview in Chrome
The first time, Chrome downloads its translation data. Using captions? Press “Start captions” here. Keep this tab open while you stream.
Paste the URL into OBS
Once Chrome is ready, open OBS, add a Browser source and paste the URL from the setup page. The background is transparent, so it sits right on top of your stream.
How your data is handled
- Chat translationHappens inside Chrome on your computer. Messages are never sent to an outside translation service.
- Live captionsUses Chrome’s speech recognition. Your mic audio is sent to Google’s speech recognition to be turned into text. If you don’t use captions, the mic stays off.
- Relay to OBSTranslated messages and captions pass through a relay service (Supabase) to reach your OBS overlay. They are passed along, not stored.
- TwitchChat is read-only. No Twitch login is needed, and Textileaf never posts in your chat.
- Usage statsTo see how many people use Textileaf, we record the time, a random ID for your browser, and the theme and display you chose when a preview opens. Channel names, messages and audio are never recorded.
- What we don’t collectThere are no accounts. We don’t collect names, email addresses or other personal information.
Questions
Is it free?
Yes. Textileaf is in beta and completely free.
Do my viewers need to install anything?
No. Translations and captions are part of your stream, so everyone watching sees them.
What do I need?
Chrome on a computer, plus OBS or another streaming app that supports browser sources. A phone alone won’t work.
Does it work with YouTube?
Twitch only for now. YouTube Live support is under consideration.
What happens to deleted messages?
Messages deleted on Twitch disappear from the overlay too.
My captions don’t show up. The mic seems silent.
If OBS starts first, Chrome sometimes gets no sound from your mic. Close OBS, press “Start captions” in Chrome, then open OBS again.
Where do I send bug reports or ideas?

Which languages are supported?
Chat and captions can be translated into English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Japanese, Korean or Chinese (Simplified). Incoming chat can be in many more languages.
